Key Competencies
Computer Aided Design (CAD)
At Precision Design & Engineering we make use of CAD as a principle design tool for all design projects. By working in synergy with our Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) capabilities the initial product development process comprising of conceptual design and engineering evaluation can rapidly proceed with design iterations occurring in this virtual environment – the end result of which is a highly refined product design ready for prototyping. Once the prototype is physically evaluated for form, fit and function the product is then either further refined or ready for production tooling.
During the design process CAD is also used to quantify such items as;
- Physical properties such as mass, volume, surface area, center of gravity and moment of inertia
- In an assembly environment the design checked for maintenance accessibility, build sequence and integration with adjacent components
- In an assembly environment to generate the bill of materials
